Cardio is boring - Muay Thai is FUN! When Divine found Muay Thai she met perfect fitness match!

Q: What inspired you to start training?
A: "I was on this journey of trying to find a healthy hobby where I could improve my fitness and have fun. I had this mindset that I hated cardio and that all forms of cardio were boring. I tried many things like social touch and netball, but I just struggled to stay committed to them. That's when my partner Wei suggested I try Muay Thai. At first, I was a little hesitant because it was a bit out of my comfort zone. But after my first class, I instantly loved the sport and couldn't wait to come back. Ever since that day, my mindset about fitness has changed, and I definitely can't go a couple of days without training."

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is nervous about starting sparring?
A: "It's 100% normal to feel nervous when you first start sparring. I definitely did. But the only advice I can give to get over this fear is to consistently show up to the classes and don't give up if you have one or two bad sparring sessions. The more you do it, the more confident you get, and then you realize that it's no different from any other class. Also, everyone at JAI is friendly, and if you express to them that it's your first time sparring and you just want to go light, people are more than happy to do so."

Q: How has your partner Wei supported and motivated you?
A: "He has been one of my biggest supporters from the start. He constantly pushes me to do better and train harder. Even though I like to complain and bicker with him about it, he always knows how to motivate me to stay consistent. I think one of the best things about training with your partner is that you feel 100% comfortable with them and can be completely honest without fear of judgment. This is why I like to partner up with him. I don't feel bad if I hit him a little hard. I definitely wouldn't be where I am now without his help because he's the one who always takes the time out of class to show and teach me skills that I'm struggling with."
